The special importance of Vijaya Ekadashi in Hinduism is explained. Vijaya Ekadashi fast is observed every year on Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month as per Hindu calendar. This Ekadashi is starting from the morning of February 16.
Fasting on Vijaya Ekadashi makes one victorious in all spheres and all bad karma ends. By this fast one gets the blessings of Lord Vishnu and moves towards success.
Vijaya Ekadashi will start from 5.32 am on February 16 and will continue till 2.51 midnight on February 17. In such a situation, based on Udaya Tithi, the Ekadashi fast will be on 16th February. The Vaishnava community will celebrate Ekadashi on February 17 only. Vijaya Ekadashi will be celebrated on February 17 from 08.01 AM to 09.12 AM.
Pooja method of Vijaya Ekadashi
Take bath early in the morning and wear clean clothes and install Lord Vishnu’s idol or picture and then offer incense, lamp, fruits, flowers, tulsi. After offering sweets, light the ghee lamp. Recite Vishnu Sahasrana on this day. After that, perform Aarti and distribute Bhoga among all the family members. Donate clothes and food to Brahmins on Vijaya Ekadashi.
According to the scriptures Sri Rama fasted on Vijaya Ekadashi to conquer Lanka. which helped Sriram to conquer Lanka. By fasting on Vijaya Ekadashi, one not only gets inexhaustible merit, but by worshiping Mother Lakshmi along with Vishnu, one maintains happiness and prosperity.
