After Turkey, New Zealand was shaken by a strong earthquake. The magnitude of the tremor on the Richter scale is 6.1. On this day, at around 7:40 pm local time, the earthquake occurred at the northwestern end of Paraparaumu. The epicenter was 57.4 km underground. Apart from Paraparaumur, tremors were felt in large parts of the country.
Incidentally, a few days ago, a severe earthquake occurred in Turkey and Syria. It is reported that more than 41 thousand people have died in that earthquake so far. Indian Army and NDRF teams are carrying out relief and rescue work in the two earthquake-ravaged countries.
