World Radio Day is celebrated worldwide on February 13 under the initiative of the United Nations. A special tribute program for ‘Mahishasuramardini’ is also going to be held at Kolkata Press Club on this day. The event is organized by I Communications, Pankaj Mallick Music and Art Foundation and Seven Boats Academy.
Radio world has been in contact with Bengali life since the time of Rabindranath. Akashbani is the name given by him. ‘Mahishasuramardini’ is being broadcast regularly on that radio since a while. Currently the longest running show in the world is ‘Mahishasuramardini’. World Radio Day will be celebrated on Monday in honor of that event.

As is the case throughout the year, before this day comes, the shops are crowded to repair the radio. The importance of the day will be highlighted through the program ‘Radio Ga Ga’ on Monday. It will be remembered that the role of radio in the life of ordinary people is still immense. Actor and writer Bhaswar Chattopadhyay, renowned Bachich artists Satinath Mukhopadhyay and Debashish Bose and noted sociologist Professor Dr. Ruby Sai will be present as chief guests. They will be honored for their significant contribution in their respective fields.
