According to the Hindu calendar, there are a total of 12 Shivratris in a year. Mahashivratri is celebrated on the Chaturdashi tithi of the Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month. Shivaratri on Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha of other months is known as monthly Shivaratri. On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, devotees perform Rudrabhishek in the Shiva temple. According to the scriptures, on the night of Mahashivratri, Lord Shiva appears as Jyotirlinga like the sun. Since then Mahashivratri is celebrated every year in the month of Falgun. This year Shivratri falls on Saturday 18 February 2023.

Remedies for Mahashivratri
Consecrate the Shivlinga with Panchamrita.
On the first hour of Mahashivratri, chant the mantra after bathing with milk.
Chant the mantra after bathing with curd in the second hour.
In the third hour, chant the mantra after bathing with ghee.
Then in the fourth hour chant the mantra after bathing with honey.
Then write your wish on the paper but in a positive or yes indicative way. Write a wish on a piece of paper with a red pen and fold the paper and bury it in the ground outside the house on Shivratri and plant a tree in that place and water it daily.
Apart from this, clean the five-faced rudraksha with water and dry it. After drying, keep it in your left hand and close it with your right hand and say all your wishes. After that, keep it somewhere safe and check it once a day.
Place one black pepper and seven black sesame seeds on the palm and make a wish from your heart and offer it to Shivalinga. This will definitely fulfill your wish.
On the day of Shivratri, take 21 Belpatras, put sandalwood on everyone and write Om Namah Shivaya and offer them to the Shivalinga as per your wish.
