Bathing in the Ganges is important on the day of Kumbha Sankranti. On this day one should wake up early in the morning and bathe in the Ganga. If for some reason it is not possible to bathe in the holy river, you can bathe at home by mixing a little Ganges water in the bath water. After bath, offer arghya to Suryadev by mixing Ganges water, rice, sesame seeds and red flowers in a copper vessel. Chant the 108 names or mantras of Sun God on this day and worship him according to the rules. You can also recite Aditya Hridyo Stotra. After that, donate as much as you can to the poor, needy and Brahmins. By doing this, the blessings of the sun god are obtained and the honor increases.
