Bad News For Battlegrounds Fans: Removed is Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). The popular multiplayer game was pulled from the Google Play Store on Thursday. After PUBG was banned, Crafton, the owning company, brought a new BGMI exclusively for India. Now the center has stopped that too.

A Google spokesperson said the app was removed from the Play Store after receiving a government directive.
Crafton, however, has yet to comment directly on the matter. A company spokesperson said, ‘We are looking into why BGMI was removed from the Google Play Store and App Store. Any information on this matter will be disclosed.’
In 2020, in the interest of cyber security, several Chinese apps were banned by the central government in India. PUBG was also on that list. Although PUBG’s creator Crafton is actually a South Korean gaming company. But, it was claimed that there was Chinese influence on them. Chinese company Tencent invested in their company. PUBG Mobile was published in India by China’s Tencent.
Then BGMI was launched in 2021, separately for India only. BGMI was similar to PUBG in terms of gameplay. Within a year of its launch, BGMI crossed 100 million users on iPhone and Android.
It is still unclear why the game has been banned in India.
