  • According to a report by news agency PTI, the auction started at 10 am. Which can last till 6 pm. Rating agency ICRA Ltd predicts that the sale of Airwaves could fetch Rs 1.1 trillion or $14 million.
  • Jio beat Adani Group in terms of ‘deposit money ahead of the auction. While Ambani’s telecom company paid Rs 14,000 crore as ‘deposit money’ (earnest money deposit in colloquial language), Adani gave only Rs 100 crore.
  • According to the Centre’s Department of Telecom, four companies have submitted ‘deposit money for purchasing 5G spectrum. Reliance Jio has deposited a maximum of Rs 14,000 crore. That amount will depend on how many airwaves a company can bid for.
  • According to the Centre’s Department of Telecom website, Airtel has paid Tk 5,500 crore as Earnest Money Deposit. Vodafone Idea has given Tk 2,200 crore.
